ELUL, THE 14TH DAY – A Prayer for Unity and Peace

Ascending the steps of Jerusalem in Prayer

September 2nd: READING & PRAYING PSALMS 133-142

Ref: ELUL, OUR 29 DAY BANQUET OF PRAYER… TO HONOR THE KING OF GLORY!

There are fifteen Psalms of Ascent, 120–134 (119–133 in the Septuagint and the Vulgate). Known as songs of ascent due to the tradition of signing these specific Psalms of peace while in route ascending to Jerusalem, or ascending Mount Zion or ascending the steps of the Temple.

PSALM 133 —A Psalm of Ascent

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;

As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.

Verse 1 and 2

The Priest was anointed for Life. This is why the oil was poured over his head at such a level that it ran down from his head and saturated his garments. He was drenched in the anointing oil to such an extent that even his sons were covered under his anointing. The anointing was their inheritance.

Aaron was known for his ability to help the brethren resolve disputes. His talents were utilized by Heaven to restore all levels of relationships; friendships, marriages. His ability to bring people back into right alignments, back into a place unity and friendship was legendary.

At his death it was said that there were 80,000 Aarons at his memorial service. A testimony to the number of marriages he helped and the people he impacted with his ministry. He would go to great lengths to reignite love, peace and kindness. He would appeal to the parties in a dispute and motivate them towards reconciliation, with such finesse that they thought it was their own idea to settle the matter and lay down their animosity and anger.

Their were many facets to the priestly robes, but one we need to recall is the of the ephod. The ephod contained the symbols (stones) of all twelve tribes. So when the oil flowed down Aarons’ garments, it covered the ephod in the same anointing oil. As Aaron was anointed, all twelve tribes were partakers in the same anointing, as one unified nation of people.

Verse 3

Mt Hermon: https://images.app.goo.gl/MH2Uh8J7CWipU46k9

Important pieces of information to know: de in Hebrew is ‘tal’. Mt. Hermon stands 9, 232 feet high and resides in the North. Mt Zion is 2, 510 feet high and resides in the South.

An enormous amount of dew falls on Mt Hermon during the better part of the year. When its not raining, their is dew, and the dew nourishes the land, the plants and fruits thrive.

Zion has a drier climate, less rain, less dew. In a year when the dew comes to Mt. Zion, the fruits and plants prosper and grow, as if a supernatural fertilizer has been poured over the land.

The dew of Heaven is as nourishing as the rain. The entire land is refreshed, prospers and grows. The harvest is bountiful. The symbolism of the dew connects us to spiritual blessings, a refreshing, unity, harmony, growth, prosperity, etc.

OUR PRAYER

Lord, we pray for the unity of your people. Send us our Aarons, with words of peace and reconciliation, words of harmony and love. Send us words and visions of peace in our dreams. Show us every place hat we block and frustrate the bonds of peace. Shows us the people that you are waiting for us to reconcile with. Show us the pathway to unity.

Help us to break down the walls of partition that we have created or the ones we did not build but have allowed to remain. Teach us how to remove them. What shall we do? What are the first steps we need to take?

For every nation that is in a dry and barren place, we seek the anointing. We desire unity LORD, We desire peace for your people. Saturate our dry places with the dew of Heaven, like the dew of Mt. Hermon.

We who are in a dry place, for everyone in a dry place, we beseech you LORD for the blessing, for the rain, for the dew.

May the oil from the bread of Aaron, renew us again.

Amen.

ELUL, THE 13TH DAY OF PRAYER

Which Place Shall Become, Your Dwelling Place with GOD?

September 1st: TODAY WE ARE READING & PRAYING PSALMS 126-132

Ref: ELUL, OUR 29 DAY BANQUET OF PRAYER… TO HONOR THE KING OF GLORY!

Once again, by the providence of GOD, our assignment to read and pray the Psalms is set together so very nicely. To really appreciate this to the utmost, we have some reading to do.

Today, let’s start at the end, Psalm 132 and work our way back to the beginning, Psalm 126, after reading 1 Samuel 29 through 1 Samuel 31. This will help to provide more context for our prayers tonight. As you read through these two Psalms, I have highlighted a few key messages for you.

PSALM 132

Lord, remember David
    and all his self-denial.

He swore an oath to the Lord,
he made a vow to the Mighty One of Jacob:
“I will not enter my house
    or go to my bed,
I will allow no sleep to my eyes
    or slumber to my eyelids,
till I find a place for the Lord,
a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob.”

We heard it in Ephrathah,
we came upon it in the fields of Jaar:[a]
“Let us go to his dwelling place,
let us worship at his footstool, saying,
‘Arise, Lord, and come to your resting place,
you and the ark of your might.

May your priests be clothed with your righteousness;
may your faithful people sing for joy.’”

10 For the sake of your servant David,
do not reject your anointed one.

11 The Lord swore an oath to David,
a sure oath he will not revoke:
“One of your own descendants
I will place on your throne.
12 If your sons keep my covenant
and the statutes I teach them,
then their sons will sit
on your throne for ever and ever.”

13 For the Lord has chosen Zion,
he has desired it for his dwelling, saying,

1“This is my resting place for ever and ever;
here I will sit enthroned, for I have desired it.

15 I will bless her with abundant provisions;
her poor I will satisfy with food.
16 I will clothe her priests with salvation,
and her faithful people will ever sing for joy.

17 “Here I will make a horn grow for David
and set up a lamp for my anointed one.

18 I will clothe his enemies with shame,
but his head will be adorned with a radiant crown.”

PSALM 126

When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.

Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The Lord hath done great things for them.

The Lord hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.

Turn again our captivity, O Lord, as the streams in the south.

They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.

He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

PSALM 127

Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.

Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.

Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.

In a prophetic sense of Prayer, Zion is your fortified City and stronghold. David established it as the place, the dwelling place of GOD. Before I could send out this prayer, I sent a message out called, A Place Where GOD’s Presence can Meet You. It’s about setting up your own place, somewhere… room that you love being in, a place that brings you a sense of peace and comfort, a garden, a river, a lake or a beach.

There’s a friend of mine, we all have one, who will say to me when they read this, “I can pray and meet with GOD anywhere.” Yes, that’s perfectly true, and likewise GOD established the sabbath as His divine meeting place, for all of mankind… if we choose.

There are friends who have not seen each other for years and they can say to each other, “OK, I’ll meet you at 6pm”, and they don’t even have to say the name of the place outloud. They know the place. Husband’s and wives always have a special place, at least one.

It’s OK if some of you don’t fully understand what I’m talking about right now, understanding will come. There’s a place where revelation will come. A place where the Heavens’a are open for just you. Keep watch and pray.

As the bride of Christ, where is your place?

There’s a personal place that you can connect with the Presence of GOD. Establish a place that you consecrate to the presence of GOD. It could be the sliver of land between the house and the garage, or a spot under your favorite tree. GOD loves initiative and accepts all gestures of love toward him that are intended for the purpose of building our relationship with Him.

In lieu of our City of David, we shall establish a place, without legalism, without man made traditions or dogmatic perceptions or expectations. If you do not already have one, establish one. Take time to read through these Psalms and this portion of scripture and pray. GOD is faithful. He will show you the place.

A personal prophetic place of prayer. This is important.
