Dor la Dor, Generation to Generation, Psalm 24:6 for Marlene

let me begin by introducing a few new words in the passage.

A few observations:

(1) There are two different words translated as ‘seeking’ in Psalm 24:6. When the same exact word is repeated in a passage of text, we know that special emphasis is being placed on that particular word for a reason. Scripture is drawing us in close and asking us to focus. It’s a hermeneutic GOD uses in order to get us to pay attention.

Repetition means Something Special!

The Rabbi’s noticed this very early in their studies of scripture which is why Rabbi Eliezer ben Jose ha-Gelili established this as one of his Hermeneutical Rules # for studying the Torah; Rule 3 Ribbuy ahar Ribbuy.

Imagine us having a live conversation and I kept repeating the same word, over and over. Eventually, you would ask me, “Why do you keep saying that?” You would immediately know that I was doing it intentionally, so you would- chances are- ask me about it.

When GOD repeats Himself two or more times in a passage, a paragraph, or even across chapters, that is exactly what He is doing!

There has to have been a few times, when you have been reading the bible and asked yourself, “Why does He keep saying that?, or “He already said that!” and we can usually look directly at the context to gain insight as to why that is happening.

(2) What I find interesting here is that two completely different words are being used to express the concept of ‘seeking.’ So, we have to stop and ask ourselves, Why?

The same exact words repeated within a passage is one thing. But here we have two completely different words, whose meanings are very similar. So what is happening here? Now we really have to look even closer!

The double wording means something much more significant than simply saying “seeking” twice.

Psalm 24:6 is part of a deliberate biblical pattern in which דָּרַשׁ (darash) and בָּקַשׁ (baqash) are placed beside one another intentionally.

So, our next question is…”Have we ever seen these words together before in the scripture?” If so, we gain special insight.

I’m going to pause here a minute so that we can refresh our memory…

THE DOR OF THEM THAT SEEK HIM….

dalet (d) is a door.

The dor will be open to the select and elect of a generation- not to everyone.

Dor in Hebrew is a big word, so we have to spend some time looking at it.

dor is spelled, dalet (d) var (o) reish (r)

dalet (d) in Hebrew not only means poor, it represents a door post, a path, access, movement in and out, a pathway.

vav (0) represents the nail, a man, connection, joining, etc.

and the reish (r) represents man, headship,

Combined, these letters convey the message of access to, or movement toward headship, a path to headship… Regardless of which specific words we use, we arrive at the same understanding: door – connection – headship

Also, we must consider that what headship and leadership mean to us, is not the same thing as it means to GOD, according to His Language.

PSALM 24

The earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.

2 For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.

3 Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place?

4 He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.

5 He shall receive the blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.

6 This is the DOR (generation) of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. Selah.

7 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.

8 Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle.

9 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.

10 Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.

Our FOCUS: This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. Selah. (KJV)

To answer your question, we’re going to look for patterns… So, thw first thing we are going to do is to ask ourselves…

1. Where do דָּרַשׁ and בָּקַשׁ appear together?

Psalm 24:6 reads:

זֶה דּוֹר דֹּרְשָׁיו מְבַקְשֵׁי פָנֶיךָ יַעֲקֹב סֶלָה

“Such is the generation of those who seek [דֹּרְשָׁיו] Him, who seek [מְבַקְשֵׁי] Your face…” (ESV)

The closest parallel is extremely important:

Jeremiah 29:13וּבִקַּשְׁתֶּם אֹתִי… כִּי תִדְרְשֻׁנִי בְּכָל־לְבַבְכֶםNearly reproduces Deut. 4:29: baqash Me → darash Me with all your heart.
Zephaniah 1:6לֹא־בִקְשׁוּ אֶת־יְהוָה וְלֹא דְרָשֻׁהוּThe negative counterpart: they neither baqash YHWH nor darash Him.
Judges 6:29וַיִּדְרְשׁוּ וַיְבַקְשׁוּIn an investigation: “they inquired and searched.” This shows the verbs can function together outside devotional language too.
Job 10:6תְבַקֵּשׁ לַעֲוֹנִי… תִדְרוֹשׁBoth used for searching/investigating guilt.
Ezekiel 34:6וְאֵין דּוֹרֵשׁ וְאֵין מְבַקֵּשׁNo one “searched/inquired” and no one “sought” the scattered sheep.

There are additional occurrences of this specific word combination in scripture, but these passages (listed above in the chart) establish the point decisively:

The pairing is intentional Biblical Hebrew, and Psalm 24:6 is especially connected with Psalm 105:4  and 1 Chronicles 16:11. A Hebrew concordance actually groups several of these under a category equivalent to “דרש and בקש together.”

Watch the Deuteronomy–Jeremiah connection:

Deuteronomy 4:29
בקשׁ YHVH → find Him → דרשׁ Him with all heart and soul

Jeremiah 29:13
בקשׁ Me → find Me → דרשׁ Me with all your heart

That looks very much like an established covenantal formula rather than random synonym choice. This is the generation that stands at the door!

Psalm 24 is arranged almost like an entrance liturgy:

Psalm 24:3 asks:

“Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place?”

Then vv. 4–5 describe the person who may approach: clean hands, pure heart, no idolatrous vanity, no false oath.

Then v. 6 identifies those people collectively:

זֶה דּוֹר דֹּרְשָׁיו
zeh dor dorshav
“This is the generation of them that seek him…”

There is even a striking sound/word relationship:

דּוֹר — dor — generation
דֹּרְשָׁיו — dorshav — those seeking Him

So the line almost sounds like:

DOR → DORSHAV
THE GENERATION → THE GENERATION THAT SEEKS

And then the verse intensifies it:

מְבַקְשֵׁי פָנֶיךָ
mevaqshei panekha
“that seek Thy face.”

That is crucial. They are not merely seeking information about God. They are seeking פָּנִים — His face/presence.

Let me repeat that: They are seeking His Presence.

Then immediately:

“Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.”
— Psalm 24:7 KJV

That creates a remarkable progression:

WHO MAY ASCEND?
Psalm 24:3

THE CLEAN-HANDED / PURE-HEARTED
Psalm 24:4

THEY RECEIVE BLESSING AND RIGHTEOUSNESS
Psalm 24:5

THIS IS THE DOR — THE GENERATION
Psalm 24:6

THE DOR ARE DORSHAV — THOSE WHO SEEK HIM

THEY BAQASH HIS FACE — SEEK HIS PRESENCE

↓

THE GATES / EVERLASTING DOORS ARE OPENED

↓

THE KING OF GLORY ENTERS
Psalm 24:7–10

There is therefore a profound theological relationship between the generation that seeks and the opening of the gates into the sphere of divine presence.

NOTE: Psalm 24 does not literally say, “God opens the door for those who seek Him.” Rather, the text moves from the people qualified to stand in His holy place to the gates being commanded to open for the King of Glory.

But, as you can see, GOD opens the dor to those that seek Him and He reveals His Presence. The implicit meaning is the connection we need to obtain. The play on words, dor and door; darash and bakash (along with the rhyme and the rhythm).

So the connection that most addresses your question is:

The generation (DOR) who truly seeks (DARASH) Him is the generation prepared to enter His holy place and encounter His Presence; and when that generation seeks (BAKASH) His face, the Psalm immediately turns to the lifting of the everlasting doors for the entrance of the King of Glory.

God is not merely awarding or rewarding “seekers.” He has entered into a covenantal promise to appear before the generations that enter into covenant keeping devotion in pursuit of His Person and Presence.

And there may be an even deeper reciprocal movement here:

MAN SEEKS THE FACE OF GOD — Psalm 24:6
↓
THE DOORS ARE LIFTED — Psalm 24:7
↓
GOD HIMSELF COMES IN — Psalm 24:7–10

So seeking His presence culminates not merely in man reaching God, but in God coming into their midst as the King of Glory.

That makes Psalm 24:6–10 especially powerful:

They seek His face → the gates rise → His Presence enters.

And Psalm 105:4 supplies the continuing command:

“Seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face evermore.”

So the דור — generation of Psalm 24 is characterized not by ancestry or chronological age alone, but by a spiritual connection, devotion and disposition:

A DOR is identified by what it DARASHES.

דּוֹר דֹּרְשָׁיו — DOR DORSHAV
The Generation = Those Who Seek Him.

That’s pretty amazing, don’t you think?

First you have to take another look at the Hebrew Letter peh, so that we can remember How GOD Spells Mouth…

He begins with the letter peh…

He ends with the letter hei…

PRONOUNCED “PAY“

The letter peh is a product of the Hebrew Letters,

Can you see the yod dangling from the letter containing letter kaf?

The letter kaf is shaped like a backwards letter C. It represents the open palm of the hand, open like a container holding something.

The yud י alludes to spirituality, humility, love, kindness prayer… (to name a few of the concepts and images that it represents).

The mouth and the power of speech were given to man to serve the ethical goals of using our speech in the service of God… to lift up, edify, encourage the Body of Christ.

The gift of speech is for the purpose to speak life, not death, or destruction… to bless and not curse, to pray for those who despitefully use you… Our tongue was meant to build up each other in kindness, not pick each other apart.

If the mouth can not carry out this most holy and ethical mission, should it be closed?

This equates to something my mom used to say. and teach daily…”If you don’t have anything good to say, be quiet.” (Thanks Mom!)

The letter hei ה (above) symbolizes the Breath of God, Revelation from God, Repentance, Blessings, Elevation Significance, Increase, Mercy…

The letter hei is filled with abundance & blessings. The mouth was created with the capacity, and the potential to carry the Word of God.

In fact, it was designed to do so!

Follow the sequence in the letters… peh the mouth opens revealing the yod inside. Yod is a HUGE letter in Hebrew. To be the smallest letter in the Hebrew language it represents the most powerful concepts. the single most important of these is humility.

GOD’s Holy language reveals that He is looking for the Yod in our mouths, in our speech, on our tongues.

When the mouth (peh) contains and maintains its yod, the hei follows. Revelations follows, insight follows. Blessings follow. Amen.

BUT GOD DID NOT STOP THERE!

He took the Word He created for ‘MOUTH’ to create another Word that expresses His concept and idea of BEAUTY.

He adds the letter yud…

The letter י  (spelled yud or yod) symbolizes humility, love, kindness, truth, goodness, Himself – All that GOD is… The Height of Spirituality…

He takes the First Letter of His Name and adds it to the mouth.

So, the question becomes… “What are we speaking?

Look at the message and the WORD Picture the letters paint together, and

In the Holy tongue and Language of GOD, it’s your words that determine your beauty.
Not your physical appearance. He’s looking at your spiritual appearance. How do you appear before GOD?

THE LANGUAGE OF GOD ITSELF CLEARLY PAINTS A PICTURE OF WHAT GOD CALLS BEAUTIFUL..

yah-peh happens when…. humility drips from your lips

When you consider how GOD speaks, before you speak.

When you surrender your thoughts, and your ways, to His thoughts and His ways…

When you don’t have to be seen and you just want Him to be seen…

When attitude is not your only means to communicate.

Beautiful does not try to control or manipulate another with their words. Their words speak life and abundance.

Our definition of beautiful is focused on the outward appearance. We look for the outward man, the outward woman… Our definition of BEAUTY places our focus on what we can see in the natural. We’re not looking at the spirit. The spirit of the person is not even in consideration in our definition of ‘Beautiful.

Are the words that come out of your mouth beautiful?

Are you beautiful? Really Beautiful? According to the Word?

Or do we have to be right every time, about everything?

Those with the virtue and character trait of “yah-peh” will not use their tongue to murmur, chide, complain, point fingers, assign blame, ridicule, reproach, judge, control, manipulate… etc.

…and when they catch themselves engage in such activity- (the flesh will runaway from you if you don’t watch it…)

aka… the tongue is ALL FLESH… NOT A BONE IN IT!

So when the Children of GOD catch themselves operating in the flesh,

They Repent.

I pray that the LORD GOD of Heaven, calls us BEAUTIFUL Everyday!

DESTROYING IDOLS IN THE HEART, Part 1

Heavenly Father we praise you. We lift up this word before you and we ask you to write it on the tablets of our heart. We ask Lord, that you would take this word and make it life to us. Let it perform every purpose in which you are sending it forth to accomplish.

 Lord, bring the priestly anointing upon every vessel that who reads and hears this Word. Take the blood and anoint every ear as the word of God comes forth so that if there is anything in our life that is impure, or unsanctified, or not of You, that it would be cleansed and delivered. Heavenly Father, take the oil, anoint every ear to understand and to hear.

 Holy Spirit, we release you and ask you, to bring the application of this Word in our lives. Individually, speak to us through this message. May we leave our place in this level, as different people, knowing that we have had a visitation with God. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Open to Ezekiel 14:1-5 KJV

14 Then came certain of the elders of Israel unto me and sat before me.

2 And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

3 Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their heart, and put the stumbling block of their iniquity before their face: should I be enquired of at all by them?

4 Therefore speak unto them, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Every man of the house of Israel that setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumbling block of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to the prophet; I the Lord will answer him that cometh according to the multitude of his idols.

5 That I may take the house of Israel in their own heart because they are all estranged from me through their idols.

Idols in his heart. Notice He is not talking about outward idols.

Now, the Lord says, according to their idols, I am going to answer them, I am going to let them be deceived because they have these idols in their heart.

Now, the one thing we want to notice here is that the Lord says in Ezekiel 14:5, “…because they are estranged from me, through their idols.”

The word ‘estranged‘, in Hebrew, is a word that means unrelated. He says, “They are unrelated to me now, because of idols in their heart.”

When we allow idols to come into our hearts, there comes an unrelatedness through blocks, that prevent us from being joined to the Lord.

No More Building the Blocks that Cause Separation Between You & the LORD

Whenever an idol was erected in a high place in the Hebrew Scriptures, (aka The Old Testament), there was always a wood grove erected or a stone grove erected. This represents a block and this word, ‘idol‘ is not referring just to the carved image, but it is referring to the block.

A block is an obstacle. That word, ‘idol‘ in this particular instance in the text means obstacle.

The obstacle that has estranged you from intimacy with God is an idol.

What are the obstacles that have prevented you from operating in faith? Have you built up such a wall of separation that it looks like the wall belongs there?

Are there obstacles that have prevented you’re going forward in God? An obstacle that has prevented you from using your faith creates a wall of separation and distance between you and the LORD. Can you identify the obstacle(s) that has prevented you from operating in obedience to what God has told you to do?

Elevating Beyond the Literal…

Idols in the heart, are not necessarily what we would call a carved image, not necessarily what we would call a graven image.

God is addressing his people through Ezekiel here today, and He is speaking about idols in the heart that create a blockage.

This is what we need to know about the blocks that have estranged us and caused a condition of being unrelated, lacking nearness to God.

We become united to God through His Spirit. We know we have that relatedness to God because our character becomes like God’s character.

Achieving the Highest Level of Spiritual Intimacy

 When we are flowing in the things of God. When we are flowing in intimacy with God.

When we have that intimate communication with God, we have communion face to face with Him.

Now, looking back at Ezekiel 14:4, the scripture teaches us that there is a stumbling block before their face.

When a stumbling block is present, there is no such thing as being present before the Face of God. Where there is a stumbling block, there is no such thing as operating in the Character of God.

You see, the character of God is the Face of God. The Character of God exists in kind with His attributes. This is the Face of God.

God desires that all of us would have communion with Him… with his character, with his attributes, with His glory, with his mercy with his forgiveness with his graciousness. That which is in our heart, which is an obstacle, that is where we need to possess discernment in order to know, recognize and/or identify the obstacles that exist within us that are preventing us from coming into divine communion with the Presence of GOD.

Assignment: Examine your heart. Remove every obstacle that is blocking your relationship with God. Cut down the groves that are limiting your connection and communion with God. No more self-inflicted spiritual sabotage. It’s time to move forward!

End Your ELUL, With An Aleph…

Adam in Hebrew is a Powerful Word….

The Hebrew letters convey concepts, images, ideas, symbols and possess numerical value. There is a lot of valuable data packed into each letter of the Hebrew Aleph-Bet, which translates to a great deal of data in each word, as it is constructed of the letters of the aleph-bet. The Hebrew Letters are treasure houses of information.

The Aleph in ADAM-

Aleph represents teaching, leadership, divinity, strength, torah, teacher, leader, power…

DAM means BLOOD in Hebrew…

dam, represents blood, impulsiveness, inclinations

Be an Aleph over the Dam, Control the Blood Impulse…. At One Point Adam failed to rule over his inclinations, over his own blood impulses… which brought death into the world.

When we fail to rule over our evil inclinations, or blood impulses, we can bring death and destruction into our own lives and into the lives of others.

Be an Aleph over the Dam…

Which Place Shall Become, Your Dwelling Place with GOD?

September 1st: TODAY WE ARE READING & PRAYING PSALMS 126-132

Ref: ELUL, OUR 29 DAY BANQUET OF PRAYER… TO HONOR THE KING OF GLORY!

Once again, by the providence of GOD, our assignment to read and pray the Psalms is set together so very nicely. To really appreciate this to the utmost, we have some reading to do.

Today, let’s start at the end, Psalm 132 and work our way back to the beginning, Psalm 126, after reading 1 Samuel 29 through 1 Samuel 31. This will help to provide more context for our prayers tonight. As you read through these two Psalms, I have highlighted a few key messages for you.

PSALM 132

Lord, remember David
    and all his self-denial.

2 He swore an oath to the Lord,
    he made a vow to the Mighty One of Jacob:
3 “I will not enter my house
    or go to my bed,
4 I will allow no sleep to my eyes
    or slumber to my eyelids,
5 till I find a place for the Lord,
    a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob.”

6 We heard it in Ephrathah,
    we came upon it in the fields of Jaar:[a]
7 “Let us go to his dwelling place,
    let us worship at his footstool, saying,
8 ‘Arise, Lord, and come to your resting place,
    you and the ark of your might.
9 May your priests be clothed with your righteousness;
    may your faithful people sing for joy.’”

10 For the sake of your servant David,
    do not reject your anointed one.

11 The Lord swore an oath to David,
    a sure oath he will not revoke:
“One of your own descendants
    I will place on your throne.
12 If your sons keep my covenant
    and the statutes I teach them,
then their sons will sit
    on your throne for ever and ever.”

13 For the Lord has chosen Zion,
    he has desired it for his dwelling, saying,
14 “This is my resting place for ever and ever;
    here I will sit enthroned, for I have desired it.
15 I will bless her with abundant provisions;
    her poor I will satisfy with food.
16 I will clothe her priests with salvation,
    and her faithful people will ever sing for joy.

17 “Here I will make a horn grow for David
    and set up a lamp for my anointed one.
18 I will clothe his enemies with shame,
    but his head will be adorned with a radiant crown.”

PSALM 126

When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.

2 Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The Lord hath done great things for them.

3 The Lord hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.

4 Turn again our captivity, O Lord, as the streams in the south.

5 They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.

6 He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

PSALM 127

Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.

3 Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

4 As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.

5 Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.

In a prophetic sense of Prayer, Zion is your fortified City and stronghold. David established it as the place, the dwelling place of GOD. Before I could send out this prayer, I sent a message out called, A Place Where GOD’s Presence can Meet You. It’s about setting up your own place, somewhere… room that you love being in, a place that brings you a sense of peace and comfort, a garden, a river, a lake or a beach.

There’s a friend of mine, we all have one, who will say to me when they read this, “I can pray and meet with GOD anywhere.” Yes, that’s perfectly true, and likewise GOD established the sabbath as His divine meeting place, for all of mankind… if we choose.

There are friends who have not seen each other for years and they can say to each other, “OK, I’ll meet you at 6pm”, and they don’t even have to say the name of the place outloud. They know the place. Husband’s and wives always have a special place, at least one.

It’s OK if some of you don’t fully understand what I’m talking about right now, understanding will come. There’s a place where revelation will come. A place where the Heavens’a are open for just you. Keep watch and pray.

As the bride of Christ, where is your place?

There’s a personal place that you can connect with the Presence of GOD. Establish a place that you consecrate to the presence of GOD. It could be the sliver of land between the house and the garage, or a spot under your favorite tree. GOD loves initiative and accepts all gestures of love toward him that are intended for the purpose of building our relationship with Him.

In lieu of our City of David, we shall establish a place, without legalism, without man made traditions or dogmatic perceptions or expectations. If you do not already have one, establish one. Take time to read through these Psalms and this portion of scripture and pray. GOD is faithful. He will show you the place.

A personal prophetic place of prayer. This is important.

Also, we must consider that what headship and leadership mean to us, is not the same thing as it means to GOD, according to His Language.

PSALM 24

The earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.

2 For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.

3 Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place?

4 He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.

5 He shall receive the blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.

6 This is the DOR (generation) of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. Selah.

7 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.

8 Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle.

9 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.

10 Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.

What can the meaning be of revealing ten generations from Noah to Abraham?

The Rabbi’s say, it is to show us the extent of GOD’s patience and tolerance for man’s behavior. GOD will wait for His Abraham.

I’ve heard some others ask, “If GOD loves the world, why does he allow so much evil to occur. I may have said that, “Evils occur because of the things that we say, allow and do, mankind has dominion over the earth. Our first obligation is to take responsibility for our own actions” Or, I could respond, “GOD could have been awaiting for you or me to step up like an Abraham, a Sarah, a Joshua, a Deborah!…”

The absolute generosity…

…patience, mercy, kindness and the love of GOD, to wait for ten generations for one like Abraham! This is what is being criticized. GOD had bigger plans than what they could even imagine.

One of the first teachings to be found in Pirkei Avot is, “The world stands on three things: Torah , service, and acts of loving kindness (1:2).

If this were not true, we would have been abandoned by GOD a long time ago. (Especially, if He had the tolerance level that we have).

The World Stands on 3 Pillars…

GOD respects, trusts and keeps His Own Word, torah. GOD serves us, more than we have ever served Him. His acts of loving kindness are right there in the mirror, right in front of us… We are still here after thousands of years of provoking GOD. That’s incredible!

Imagine GOD standing behind you while you look into that mirror. All you see is you. GOD sees the spiritual potential inside of you that pleases Him. When he looked at Shem, he saw Abraham, and was willing to see past 9 generations in between, for Abraham to come forth.

Aren’t YOU the One GOD was willing to wait for?

I venture to say, that GOD looked at your great, great, great, great, great…. grandmother and father 10 generations ago and decided, the world would just have to hold on, until you arrived! No matter what the world cooked up in the meantime… We had to wait for you, the generation of the righteous, the one’s who would seek Him!

YOU are the evidence of ALL of His acts of Loving Kindness, Patience, Tolerance…

David prayed and GOD kept a promise to David, that He would not remove the Kingdom from Solomon–no matter what.

Is it conceivable that someone in your ancestry prayed and asked GOD to watch over their seed… because they believed GOD for Your Life? GOD was willing to endure whatever, whoever your bloodline produced in order for you to become? Is that possible?

What if someone had prayed… “LORD, if there is no good thing to ever come from their loins, cut off and destroy their seed from the whole earth!”

So here we are…all gathered at the dor, awaiting for the sons of GOD to be made manifest in your generation, in your house, your bloodline, in You!

You are a pillar in the House of GOD, of torah, service or loving kindness, or all of the above. Without you, the foundation would fall. GOD waited for you and if you ask Him...

GOD will wait at the dor,

…until all of your prayers are answered by Him for your seed and your seeds, seed, for all that seek His Face!

Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.

The entire time you were reading this, it may have sounded like I was just talking. But, while I was… I was praying for you.

You are a pillar in the House of GOD, a Gate Keeper. You are the seed or one of the seeds in your generational bloodline that sought GOD. You preserved the spiritual continuity of the bloodline. Not every one for able. You were. Not everyone could or can ascend to the Holy Hill, or stand in the Holy place. You desire clean hands and a pure heart, You desire to guard your tongue like your life depended upon it (because your spiritual life does). You will not lift your soul up to vanity or swear deceitfully. You my dear, are the mighty men and women of the Most High GOD.

Lift Up Your Heads, Oh Ye Gates and the King of Glory shall come in!

WHO SHALL BECOME THE GENERATION OF THE UPRIGHT?

August 30th: TODAY WE ARE READING & PRAYING PSALMS 112-118

Ref: ELUL, OUR 29 DAY BANQUET OF PRAYER… TO HONOR THE KING OF GLORY!

The Hebrew word that means “generation” is dor (dore).

We understand the word, generation in English to represent, “a body of living beings constituting a single step in the line of descent from an ancestor, or the average span of time between the birth of parents and that of their offspring.” (Webster’s Dictionary)

In Hebrew thought, ‘dor’ means something more than a biological line of ancestry, or a linear span of time. It is more than the continuity of a bloodline or DNA ancestry.

In Psalm 112:2, the scripture reads, “the generation of the upright shall be blessed”, the scripture is referring to continuity that is not limited to successive generations; grandparent, parent, child. This is about spiritual continuity, that might have to skip a few generations until another arises with the same spirit.

OUR WESTERN MINDSET TENDS TO TAKE OVER… and we can’t hear the scripture from the Hebrew at all. The meaning of ‘generation’ in English, is completely different than the meaning of ‘generation (dor)’ in Hebrew.

In a recent blog I wrote called, Connecting the Dots, we reviewed the genealogy of Shem (Genesis 11). In following the line of descent from Shem to Abraham, what we saw is the anointing transfer from Shem to Eber to Abram. The anointing did not pass “in single steps from ancestors to ancestor.”

The anointing may have to skip a few generations. The anointing has to be caught. If the next generation doesn’t want it, they don’t have to have it.

Not everybody wants it and it’s not for everybody.

Some prefer a life of idolatry, sin, etc., like Ham, Canaan, Terah… and some of their sons.

The dor (generation) of the upright shall be blessed, that’s singular not plural. The blessing might not pass from dor to dor, the way we are accustomed to process the meaning in our minds. However, it will pass to the one in the generation who chooses to carry on the continuity of the blessing. Who will seek the anointing of GOD?

GOD will wait for a ‘dor’ to open, and the King of Glory shall come in!

Psalm 112

Praise ye the Lord. Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in His commandments.

Your seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed.

Wealth and riches shall be in your house: and your righteousness endureth for ever.

Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: because you are gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.

A good person sheweth favour, and lendeth: they will guide their affairs with discretion.

Surely you shall not be moved for ever: the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance.

You shall not be afraid of evil tidings: your heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord.

Your heart is established, You shall not be afraid, until you see your desire upon your enemies.

You have dispersed, You have given to the poor; your righteousness endureth for ever; your horn shall be exalted with honour.

The wicked shall see it, and be grieved; they shall gnash with their teeth, and melt away: the desire of the wicked shall perish.

Additional Insights into the Dor…

I’m sure I have not said it enough yet, but words in Hebrew have far more depth than in any other language. Hebrew words have spiritual meaning, numerical meaning, symbolic meaning (pictographically), even the shape of each letter is significant. This means that we basically cheat ourselves out of the richness and depth of meaning, by viewing the Hebrew letters and words in such a common way as we do in English. It’s too linear, too narrow.

For instance, ‘dor’ is spelled with 3 letters, dalet (d) vav (o) reish (r) in Hebrew.

Spelled backward we have the opposite of dor, reish—vav—dalet (rey’d)

rey’d in Hebrew means to Decline.

Dor means to move forward in continuity vs rey’d which means to go backward and decline. If the generation is not moving forward spiritually, all that remains open to them is spiritual decline. Grow or stay stuck and decline.

Your seed shall be mighty upon earth: is a promise made to those that choose to follow GOD, it’s not a promise to the world at large. They have to choose Him.

Not everyone in Shem’s line chose GOD.

The generation of the upright shall be blessed.

The generation of the upright, nurtures and grows spiritually, accepts the WORD, pursues it, and honors GOD. They continue the bloodline of the righteous.

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. 1 Cor 15:58
