MAY GOD ALWAYS FIND YOU DWELLING IN YOUR TENT!
Ever wonder how Adam spent his day in the Garden of Eden?
After the sin of Adam, he had to work the ground and prepare his own food. The garden, as they are still able to do, supplied his food. Imagine eating from the purest and most luscious of fruits. It had to be pretty awesome indeed!
We know his assignment in the garden was to “dress it and keep it” Genesis 2:15. We’ve talked about this before, but a question came up that I wanted to take time to review.
I mentioned that Adam was not required to prune or rake, etc. The trees grew on their own, pretty much like they do today. The Midrash teaches, something we might have missed, reminding us that a river went forth from Eden to water it (Gen 2:10), so no need to irrigate the garden.
What was the work that Adam had to do then?
Adam had to occupy himself with something that we don’t readily consider, but something that the scriptures often reminds us to do. “Meditate, day and night, in the study of Torah”
Adam had complete access to the Tree of Life in the midst of the garden. The Tree of life is the symbol of Torah.
Proverbs 3:18. She is a tree of life to those who grasp her, and whoever holds on to her is happy.
Adams work, was Labor in Torah.
Do you recall the scriptures teaching that, “ Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field; and Jacob was a plain man, dwelling in tents.” Genesis 25: 27
Dwelling in tents, is a Hebrew Idiom for studying the Torah.
Genesis 9:27 tells us, “GOD shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant”.
During this season, there are some Like you, who choose to dwell in their tents… which continues to this day to be an act of faith.
Jacob dwelled in his tent, studying Torah, like Abraham and Isaac before him. He chose to stay focused on the promises of GOD.
The Feast of Tabernacles is around the corner. A celebration of dwelling in the tents as a nation, and a commandment of GOD. LEV 23:42-43. “You shall dwell in booths for 7 Days”.
Remember when GOD dwelled among all of Israel, in the center of the camp when they we in the wilderness?
Jesus is the Master Rabbi, the Son of the Living GOD. He dwells in the Torah and that’s where we still find Him and GOD The Father.
Adam knew he did not have to plant fields and reap crops. The Torah fed his soul and nurtured him spiritually.
It’s the spiritual food we need more than anything today with water that will cause us to never thirst again.
May GOD Always find us Dwelling in the Tent!
Like we are doing now!
