WHAT IF YOU ARE YOUR BROTHER’S KEEPER? —READING THE BOOK OF JONAH ON Yom Kippur

SEPTEMBER 27TH – DAY OF ATONEMENT – on the 10th Day of the Year 5781

Reorient Yourself, Return, Recover, and Reposition Yourself for A New Beginning…

The Book of Jonah is one of my most favorite Books of the Bible. Probably because it’s so misunderstood.

In a few Christian circles, the Book of Jonah is often thought about as a biblical fairytale, a bible story of sorts. Jonah in the belly of the whale, building a fire and camping out until he decided to take up the mission he was asked to perform and GOD released him.

But there is much more to this teaching…

On Yom Kippur, the Book of Jonah is read in order to help us reorient ourselves back toward GOD. It is a splendid tool to help us reassess and reevaluate where we are spiritually. Are we on board with the things of GOD or just giving lip service?

Are we willing to follow the plan of GOD, or just do the pieces and parts of the job that suits our sensibilities? Just how much dying to self are we prepared to do?

The world may show little love toward us and our loved ones, the world is harsh and can be so very difficult and destructive… but are we still willing to love the world despite all of the wrongs that have been done to us?

Spiritually, what happens when we blame GOD for the ills of the world? Is there any damage? What happens spiritually, to us and/or the world, when we disobey GOD?

Jonah’s one act of obedience was able to save a nation. How much more, could our one act of disobedience, deny salvation to the nations?

What if you are your brother’s keeper?

Tomorrow, please read these 4 chapters in the Book of Jonah and mediate on the WORD. Examine the Book again in light of these questions above & below and discover a brand new depth of knowledge about yourself and the Book of Jonah.

  • How was Jonah introduced to us in scripture?
    • How did Jonah introduce himself to the men aboard ship with him?
  • How do you think GOD would introduce you to the world?
    • How would you introduce yourself?
    • Have you ever introduced yourself by your spiritual identity to anyone?
    • Have you ever considered it?
  • What was the turning point for Jonah? What made him decide to come up out from the belly of the whale?
  • What makes you decide to come back from a crisis?
  • Have you ever made camp in a bad situation? A situation of your own design or created by your own decision?
  • What fueled Jonah’s transition from the whale, and back into the world?
    • How did Jonah make it back?
    • Was Jonah ever in the belly of a whale?
  • Is there any point in time in the message that you detect that Jonah’s soul is in Jeopardy?
    • Remember Rule #1: Always keep your eyes on what is happening to the soul.
  • Is it alright for GOD to forgive those that you have not forgiven?
    • or to forgive those who you refuse to forgive?
    • Should GOD only forgive those that you feel are worthy of forgiveness?
  • If you were a prophet of GOD like Jonah, and GOD asked you to go to your worse enemy (the person or persons that have done you the greatest damage) in order to give them a Prophetic Word from Him, how long would do you think it would take you to comply?
    • I would do it immediately, without question; It would take me a few days… ; It would take me a while… ; or I don’t see myself doing it at all…
  • Who are you most reluctant to forgive?
    • Think personally, communally, globally
  • Have you forgiven those that have done you the most harm? Are you willing to?
  • Do you believe that unforgiveness damages the soul?
    • What damage can unforgiveness do to a soul?
    • What has unforgiveness done to your soul?
    • What damage did you see happening to Jonah?
  • How would it affect you if your mortal enemy heard the Word of GOD and responded with greater faith than your own people? or even you?
  • How would it affect you if your mortal enemy heard you preaching the Word of GOD and knew GOD was speaking, inspite of your resentment toward them?
  • What reason could there possibly be for GOD to extend blessings and opportunity for life,
    • to those that oppress you?
    • to those that have hurt you? or to those that have power over you?
  • Should you plead the cause of the unrighteous?
  • In the end of the Book, Jonah found himself in a place where he refused to forgive. The Assyrians had committed such atrocities to his people, he could not muster an ounce of love for this neighbor.
    • Do you only love the loveable?
    • Are you capable of having compassion on the unloveable?
    • How best can you demonstrate love for the unlovely?
  • We say/teach that GOD is love and that our faith is built on love… GOD says if we love Him, we must walk in love with others…
    • What must die/live in us for us to walk in love with those that hate us without a cause?
    • Is it possible to have enough compassion for those that hate us or mistreat us, that we can still minister to them the Word of GOD, in such a way that they will only see Him? Hear Him? Respond to His Word?
  • Does the prophet of GOD need salvation?
    • Or just the enemies of GOD?
  • Does the prophet of GOD need one time salvation?
    • or ongoing salvation?
  • Jonah realized that he was just unwilling to forgive the Assyrians?
    • What damage did he do to his own soul?
  • What do you think caused the Assyrians to hear the prophet of GOD, and believe the Word he spoke and turn toward GOD?
    • What will it take for your enemies on earth to look past you and actually hear the Word of GOD?
  • In the beginning of the book, Jonah sat down in the belly of a “prophetic” whale… in the end of the book, Jonah sat down under a gourd.
    • Jonah is delivered from the whale, but not the gourd. Why? What’s the distinction between the two?
    • In the end, did Jonah lose his salvation?
    • Was Jonah so resentful and so angry with GOD for having brought the Word of deliverance and redemption to his enemy that he could not move forward anymore?
  • Is GOD allowed to forgive your enemies?
  • Is it possible that Jonah could only follow GOD so far, and no further?
    • Was Jonah only willing to follow GOD as long as he agreed with His Choices?
    • or as long as he (Jonah) was serving those that he wanted to serve?
  • What damage will unforgiveness, anger, resentment, disappointment, etc do to your soul?
  • Why do you think Jonah would not repent of his spiritual condition and move forward?
  • What has the power to stop you from releasing your burdens to GOD and asking for forgiveness?
  • Who is entitled to the Word of GOD and His forgiveness?
    • …only those that you approve of?
    • or can GOD offer forgiveness to whomever He sees fit, without your pre-approval?
    • Do all the nations belong to GOD, or just the ones we like?
  • What is the one thing that can restore your soul back to its perfect spiritual condition??

These are just some of the questions the arise from the Book of Jonah. GOD provided answers to them all, in 4 brief, yet all inclusive chapters.

I urge everyone who reads this post, to take the time tomorrow and re-read the book of Jonah for the answers that are on the page and inside of you. After all, you are a living epistle of GOD.

What shall the Spirit of GOD write about you next year?

What shall you write of GOD & Man next year?

Don’t Allow This Year to be Sealed in Unforgiveness… The Choice is Yours Alone!

PSALM 27: for September 27th, YOM KIPPUR

SUNDAY, September 27th, 2020 (5781) is Holy Ground! Yom Kippur has been separated and consecrated just for you.

What if there were just one day a year that the LORD wanted to rehearse your deliverance in the ears of and in the sight of the enemy! A day GOD wanted to remind the enemy of who you are to HIM? A day that would set the tone for your whole entire new year?

Would GOD Set Aside One Day Each Year to Remind You, the entire Spirit Realm and The World at Large, that You Are Holy Unto Him?

What if there was one day in the entire year, one day in 365 days, where Your Heavenly Father set an appointment with you for deliverance?

Not a day to debate whether or not you are already saved, sanctified and delivered, but something more…

If there was one day a year, that GOD would absolutely forbid any accusations whatsoever to be leveled against you?

One day each year that GOD accepts your heart felt repentance. A day above and beyond all the legalities of our faith and all the justified claims against us?

What if there was one day in the entire year that the accuser of the brethren had no right to speak up at all, and he knew it. One day so holy, that the LORD refuses to hear any accusations, charges, judgements whatsoever, no criticisms of you of any kind…. Would you step into that day?

Yom Kippur is that day. That set apart day… above all other days of the year… a divine appointment, in which GOD would wake you up and greet you with words, so sweet as to say…

“I know the thoughts that I think toward you, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

God only requires that we proclaim His Holy Seasons.

Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders You have done, and the plans You have for us–none can compare to You– if I would proclaim and declare of them, they are more than could be numbered.

Every day of the year, but one… ha’satan seeks to cast accusations against you, to find fault, to kill, steal and destroy, even your very name and reputation before GOD.

On Yom Kippur, One day per year, that is so Holy before GOD, the enemy has no voice, no right, no standing to accuse, ridicule, or cast judgements.

On Yom Kippur, all charges are dropped in the Heavenly Court, all evil decrees are annulled.

Psalm 27 for Sunday, September 27th — the Day of Atonement

Proclaim this Day as Your Divine Appointment… Holy Unto the LORD

The Lord is my light (Rosh Hashana) and my salvation (Yom Kippur); whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of ; of whom shall I be afraid

When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this (ha’zote) will I be confident.

One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.

For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.

And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord.

Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me.

When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, Lord, will I seek.

Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.

10 When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up.

11 Teach me thy way, O Lord, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.

12 Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.

13 I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

14 Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.

This third I will bring through the fire; I will refine them like silver and test them like gold. They will call on My name, and I will answer them. I will say, ‘They are My people,’ and they will say, ‘The LORD is our God.'” Zechariah 13:9

PSALM 22

{To the chief Musician upon Ayeles hashachar, a musical instrument) A Psalm of David.}

Ayeles hashachar, a.k.a a radiant deer, the Jewish Nation, and all those who love GOD are likened to a loving deer- which is devoted to its mate. (Brightening like the dawn, Rashi, Radak)

Isaiah 60:1-3

Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.

For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.

And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.

Proverbs 4:18

But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken us? why art thou so far from helping us, and from the words of my roaring?

You LORD, have ALWAYS answered my prayers… Some feel abandoned, You feel so far away, but this can’t be true! Our countries need you, our nations are suffering, people are dying of plague, our leaders need help, they need wisdom, people need truth and someone who can speak it, so that they can hear it. We need Our Yeshua.

O my God, we cry in the day time, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent.

But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises (yeh’shev teh’hee’lote yish’ray’el) of Israel.

Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them.

As You saved them, save us for the sake of our children, all over this world.

They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded.

But we are like worms (to’la, scorned and ridiculed by nations, our own brothers and sisters, that are rejoicing at what they hope is our end) and no man; we have become a reproach of men, and despised of the people.

All they that see us laugh us to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,

There is no help for them in GOD. They are happy to see the nations of Your People in peril. They can’t see that our deaths, all these deaths, are connected to each other. We need each other to live, to survive. People dismiss us our plea, they open their mouths WIDE to criticize us… even for praying. They speak derisively about our faith and our lives, our faith that many will be saved alive.

Our Fathers and Mothers trusted on Your Name that You would deliver them: “let Him deliver him, seeing he delighted in Him.”

They mock us LORD, they doubt if You will come to our aid, if You will deliver us. How can You not help us now? We refuse to believe that You will not send us help from the sanctuary. You LORD are Faithful. You are OUR Deliverer, In Your Name we Trust!

But thou art He that took me out of the womb: thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother’s breasts.

You gave us life, and sent us Your Word. We were NOT created for death. Death is not our purpose. We were created for life and life abundantly. We decree abundance back into our lives and those who are struggling LORD. Send them their Yeshua. You are Truth, and You will keep us in the palm of Your Hand.

10 I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother’s belly.

11 Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help.

12 Many bulls (strong powerful empires, adversaries) have compassed round about us: strong bulls (powerful adversaries) of Bashan have beset us round.

13 They gaped upon us with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion.

They confess only death and destruction. They watch reports and agree. They commiserate over the situation. They come into agreement with every negative thought and vain imagination about our futures, our lives. They are daily counting death and disregarding the lives, the life they could help. They are calling death to Your People, by their lack of knowledge about Your WORD. Who LORD, is casting down their WORDS with us?

Who LORD, is speaking Life with us? Who will speak life and live? Who believes the report of the LORD with us?

14 We are poured out like water (paralyzed with fear), and all our bones are out of joint: our heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels.

Send Us Help from the sanctuary. Send Us agreement, Agree with our prayer LORD.

15 Our strength is dried up like a potsherd; and our tongues cleaveth to our jaws; and thou hast brought us into the dust of death (we sometimes feel like we’re being prepared for death. like this is the end of it all).

But we speak Death to death! We say death must die! We say, our sons and daughters shall live and not die! We say COVID can’t get through prayer!

We’ve hear that our confession is impossible!, so now we confess it even the more, even louder! We serve the GOD of the Impossible! Impossible is bread for us!

16 For dogs have compassed us: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed us: they pierced our hands and our feet.

dogs… beast that surround us and seek to tear at our flesh, not only bulls, but now dogs come at us like mobs, from the most basest places of the earth. (paraphrased from Ibn Ezra)

17 I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me.

I can count all my bones (Radak). Sometimes, I feel like a skeleton existing… like a passenger in my own day, walking behind myself, disengaged from my own life.

18 They part our garments among them, and cast lots upon our vesture.

They seek to destroy us on the cross that we serve! But we will not be moved. People just want what we have, our name in Christ, our inheritance, everything that You have given us, in Your Name. They desire our mantle of Royalty (Ibn Ezra), they want us to give up our crown for destiny, our anointing, our life in the Messiah.

19 But be not thou far from me, O Lord: O my strength, haste thee to help me.

20 Deliver my soul from the sword; my darling from the power of the dog.

21 Save me (ho’she’yay’nee, from the root yah’shaw, deliver me) from the lion’s mouth: for thou hast heard me from the horns (strength, power) of the wild oxen (those powers that rise up against me).

22 I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee.

23 Ye that fear the Lord, praise him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him; and fear him, all ye the seed of Israel.

Praising GOD according to your personal level of closeness. Those who once served out of fear, may now, I pray, serve You out of love.

24 For He hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither hath He hid his face from him; but when he cried unto him, He heard.

25 My praise shall be of thee in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before them that fear Him.

I praise because YOU are Faithful. You LORD, will always come for me. When there is no help to be found for me on earth or in people, You LORD are assurance, You are my help. You are the reason why I can praise, with no natural answer in sight. You are my ever present, supernatural answer, invisible, 360 degree answer. When You agree with my prayers, EVERYTHING, falls into place and is in right alignment.

26 The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the Lord that seek Him: your heart shall live for ever.

Our hearts will no longer suffer the anguish of exile from GOD. He will satisfy the humble and they shall praise Him.

27 All the ends of the world shall remember (za’kar) and turn unto the Lord: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.

28 For the kingdom is the Lord’s: and He is the governor among the nations.

29 All they that be fat upon earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust shall bow before Him: and none can keep alive his own soul.

30 A seed shall serve Him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation.

We are that remnant, that shall serve the LORD.

31 They shall come, and shall declare His righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that He hath done this.

Our children shall hear of Your deeds, They shall hear of our faith… We will not fail to tell them. Even now, we are declaring Your righteousness to a nation yet unborn.

AMEN

Blessings over all the nations that participate in reading this blog. I pray for your seed and your seeds seed. I pray that GOD honor and keep you and increase your strength. I pray that your garments will keep you protected from the snare of the fowler… I prayer that you never remove your garments of prayer. Your Labor is not in vain. May GOD always find you dwelling in your tents… Amen.

ELUL, ON THE 7TH DAY OF PRAYER

MOVING FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH

Ref: ELUL, The Month of The Search… Praying The Lord’s Prayer IN HEBREW & ENGLISH

Ref: ELUL, OUR 29 DAY BANQUET OF PRAYER… TO HONOR THE KING OF GLORY!

It was 40 days journey from the brook Cherith to Mt. Horeb, when Elijah traveled there and lodged in a cave, when the word of the LORD came to him there… (1 Kings 17)

This prophetic prayer journey during Elul, will require 30 days to Rosh Hashanah- The Biblical New Year!

Our journey in prayer can be just as arduous in the spirit, as it was in the natural for Elijah, to arrive before GOD, in a place where we are believing to hear GOD’s Voice, clearer and sharper and better than ever before!

Today, we are reading and proclaiming Psalms 84-90 – August 26, 2020

Today, Dear LORD we stand before you longing to be in Your Tabernacles… to be once more in the Divine Courts of Our LORD.

Blessed are your beloved children – whose strength is in thee, and in their hearts are written Your Ways.

All that weep and long for you have been given to me in prayer, their tears you have collected in a well, in Baca, the valley of tears. Tears that were created in all their dry places, You will exchange these tears for rain.

We journey toward You in Elul, the Month of the search, until we reach you in the heights of Heaven by your Holy New Year. Each prayer draws us closer, higher heights, where we shall spend days rejoicing in Your Courts. Days that will be better to us than a thousand years!, for we are the Doorkeepers in the House of Our GOD.

Through his prayers, David taught us that You are our Sun and our Shield. He told us that, “There is no good thing will you withhold from those that walk uprightly.” Each day, may our prayers teach us, correct us, lead us and uphold us in our walk.

We have purposed in our hearts and declared with our mouth, that we will not dwell in the tents of wickedness… We are turned, and headed for the tents of torah.

We cry out for the Living GOD.

Blessed are those that cry out for you! Lavish our prayers for your people, all those that you have entrusted to us in prayer, favor them with blessings, abundance, protection and wisdom in their land.

Restore us, from every dry place where we are captive, open our eyes to the places where we have made camp in our captivity… shake us up LORD, in the places where we have become comfortable, entangled with familiar spirits, loose us LORD to see and to hear your call.

Fill our mouths with Your Words. Make us to hear, even the children you anoint to speak wisdom in our ears, cause their words to ride upon the frequency of Your Voice, turn us Oh, LORD toward Your rivers of Living Water. Salvation is of the LORD.

Behold! We stand at the door and knock! Our heads dripping with dew, our clothes damp with the dew of Heaven. We shall be relentless in our prayers LORD. We shall give you no rest, until we see the performance of our prayers upon every friend, neighbor, loved one, friends, friend that we have taken up in the cover of our prayers.

We ask LORD, for their treasures to be released to them on earth. May they each be open to receiving the Desires of Your Heart for them. May their prayers gather all of the Good Gifts that You have ordained for them. May they claim their gifts and callings, and pursue walking in them, wholeheartedly, earnestly, faithfully, with consecration and heartfelt devotion.

May our prayers united, allow us all to pass through Our LORD and King’s territory, safely. Every obstacle and hinderance removed. Their papers are in order and their documents approved by the King of Glory, witnessed by the Heavenly Court, signed by the Hand of GOD and delivered to all the provinces…

We dispatch Heavenly Chariots to escort each one through the Kings forest, we hold each one in prayer until they arrive at their divine appointment. We see angles round about them, in every place the sole of their foot shall tread.

To every issue and concern, every problem or situation that arise in their path, we declare they shall meet every obstacle with the pages of scripture.. they shall look on the biblical calendar and note the date that GOD has given them the victory!

Their lives shall be a triumphant, their accomplishments recorded in Heaven. Only the wise in heart shall know of them. Only the humble are allowed to see your prophets passing by. We thank GOD for every one of these lives we hold up in prayer! They are the Goodness of GOD to us!

Psalm 85:

Photo by Wendy van Zyl on Pexels.com

You have shown us Your Mercy LORD< You have granted us they salvation.

We will hear what God the Lord will speak: for He will speak peace unto His people, and to His saints: and we will not turn to folly again.

Your salvation is nigh them that fear him; that glory may dwell in our lands.

10 Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.

11 Truth shall spring out of the earth; and righteousness shall look down from heaven.

12 Yea, the Lord has given that which is good; and our lands are yielding the increase.

13 May our righteousness travel before Him, as we run before Our LORD, and stand the watch and pray; May our consecration in prayer set us in the way of His steps.

The LORD Our GOD, never withholds a good thing from us!

AMEN

Note: 85:13- it was customary to honor the King by running before his chariot (1 Kings 1:5, 1 Kings 18:46, 1 Sam 8:11, 2 Sam 15:1)
